Margaret Tayar, Founder & Principal Consultant
Margaret Tayar is the founder and Principal Consultant at People and Performance International. Margaret has over three decades of experience in leadership and management, human resources management, learning and development and occupational health and safety. Her qualifications include a Bachelor of Science with anatomy and psychology majors from the University of NSW (UNSW), a Postgraduate Diploma in Occupational Therapy, a Masters in Health Personnel Education also from UNSW and a Masters in Public Health from The University of Sydney.
Leadership and Management
Leadership and management experience includes 10 years as CEO of a public company with responsibility for training for an industry across Australia. Most recent experience is as HR manager in a variety of contexts in Australia and abroad. She has experience facilitating strategic planning and team building sessions in cross-cultural settings including in Vietnam and Bangkok. Recent experience includes work on the design and co-facilitating the delivery of an emergency leadership and management program for country directors of CARE International in Cairo in June 2009 on behalf of CARE USA.
Learning and Development
Margaret has spent more than three decades working in all areas of adult education from community, industry, higher education and vocational education and training perspectives. She spent 8 years as an anatomy lecturer with The University of Sydney has held adjunct positions with UNSW and UQ. Margaret developed e-learning modules (in WebCT) in masters’ programs at The University of Sydney. Margaret spent 10 years in vocational education and training as the as the inaugural CEO of the National Meat Industry Training Advisory Council (MINTRAC). Margaret continues to work in L&D designing and reviewing Training Packages, developing learning and assessment materials and delivering training in the VET and higher education sectors
Human Resources Management
Human resources management experience includes 3 years as HR manager with CARE Australia and HR manager positions responding to emergencies in Myanmar (recruiting 300 local staff to provide emergency relief after Cyclone Nargis) and setting up HR systems in CARE International in Jordan. Current work focuses on aligning organisations and their people working with them on the design and implementation of performance management systems and the delivery of people and performance management training.
Occupational Health and Safety
Margaret has qualifications at masters level in occupational health and safety and has many years experience working with organisations, government instrumentalities and industries developing and implementing occupational health and safety, rehabilitation and workers compensation claims handling and claims management systems. Recent experience includes leadership in the humanitarian aid and development sector in the Asia Region on staff welfare pandemic preparedness planning and delivery of occupational health and safety units in the vocational education and training sector.
